HoSko Safety
Last Updated: September 9, 2026
HoSko is designed to help adults think more clearly about their dating experiences, particularly when traveling or dating in the Philippines. Dating, nightlife, travel, and meeting new people can involve personal, financial, and physical risks. A HoSko score can help you evaluate an experience, but it cannot eliminate those risks or replace your own judgment.
1. Put Personal Safety First
When meeting someone you do not know well, meet in public, maintain control of your own transportation, keep your phone accessible, and know how you will safely return to your hotel or residence.
Protect your passport, wallet, phone, medications, credit cards, and other valuables. Leave any situation that makes you uncomfortable or unsafe.
2. Keep Money and Emotion Separate
Dating naturally involves spending money. The important question is whether financial decisions are being driven by your own judgment or by pressure, urgency, guilt, or emotion.
Be especially thoughtful about requests involving emergencies, medical expenses, family needs, rent, tuition, travel, loans, investments, expensive gifts, or recurring financial support.
A request for money does not automatically indicate improper intentions. Look at the circumstances, frequency, amount, and pattern before making a decision.
3. Protect Your Information
Be cautious about sharing passport information, banking details, passwords, credit card information, government identification numbers, financial records, your hotel room number, home address, or private photographs and videos.
Do not give another person access to your financial accounts, phone, email, or other sensitive information unless you have independently decided that doing so is appropriate.
4. Alcohol and Judgment
Alcohol can change both judgment and perception. Stay aware of what you are drinking, maintain control of your beverages, and avoid becoming so impaired that you cannot make informed decisions.
If something feels wrong, leave the situation and seek assistance.
5. Consent and Respect
All romantic and sexual activity must be voluntary and consensual.
Paying for dinner, drinks, entertainment, transportation, gifts, or other expenses does not create an obligation for romantic or sexual activity. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
Respect the other person's boundaries and expect your own boundaries to be respected.
6. Know Their Relationship Status
Marriage laws in the Philippines differ from those in many Western countries. A person may be separated from their spouse while still legally married. Before becoming involved with someone, understand their relationship and marital status and be cautious about relationships involving a married person.
HoSko encourages responsible dating, honesty, mutual consent, and respect for local laws and customs. When in doubt about someone's marital status, verify before getting involved.
7. Adults Only
HoSko is exclusively for adults.
Never pursue romantic or sexual activity with anyone you know or reasonably suspect may be under 18. If you are uncertain about someone's age, do not proceed.
You are responsible for understanding and complying with applicable Philippine and local laws.
8. Understand What HoSko Can and Cannot Tell You
HoSko is a decision-support tool, not a dating service, matchmaking service, background-check service, identity-verification service, investigative service, or guarantee of another person's intentions.
A HoSko score does not establish that someone is safe, unsafe, honest, dishonest, trustworthy, untrustworthy, compatible, or incompatible.
HoSko primarily evaluates information you provide. Use the result to help you think about your experience and decide what you want to do next.
Do not use a HoSko result to threaten, harass, embarrass, publicly accuse, or retaliate against another person.
9. Emergencies and Local Laws
HoSko is not an emergency service and does not provide legal, medical, or law-enforcement assistance.
If you believe you or another person is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services, police, medical services, hotel security, your embassy or consulate, or another appropriate authority.
When traveling internationally, you are responsible for understanding and following the laws of the country and locality you are visiting.
Think Clearly. Decide for Yourself.
HoSko is designed to add a little objectivity after a date, when attraction and emotion can make decisions harder.
